This book does have some humorous parts to it, some sex scenes, some fight scenes, some death scenes & the making of 2 new good vampires from the same family.

I am an Urban Fantasy devotee. I don't mind a little bit of romance, but I don't read a lot of novels where the romance is the most prominent aspect of the story. That said, there are a few paranormal romances that I really enjoy. Kresley Cole's "Immortals After Dark" series is one of those. Kerrlyn Spark's fantastic "Love At Stake" series is another. Not only do I buy each of these when they are released, but I have noticed that they quickly fly past many of my Urban Fantasy's to the top of my TBR pile. Yes this series always features a man and a woman (one or both members of the couple are supernatural beings of some type) who come together by the end of the book despite odds against them. Yet, these books are filled with humor and amazing characters that somehow manage to all fell unique and different.

"Vampire Mine" was no exception. Readers have been clamouring for Conner's book for a long time...and now we have it. In this volume, Conner finds himself taking care of a fallen angel named Marielle. What happened to her? What did she do that was so bad that she was tossed from heaven? Can Conner get past his self-hatred/self-pity (and that IS how it came across to this reader) and find a future with this angel, who only wants to get back to heaven? Yes, these too do get together fairly easily. I found this refreshing. Sometimes that back and forth interplay gets old very quickly.

Marielle is adorable. I really liked her and I think she is going to prove to be a great addition to this world. Conner is more fleshed out then I have seen previously and I enjoyed his back story a great deal. We see major plot story progression here involving a big change for Roman and Shanna and their family. We find out there are some new babies due for several of our previous book's starring couples. And Casimir, or dear.

The good vamps hunt for the Malcontent (evil) vamps has been an ongoing thread since the first book. That story is hugely wrapped up by the end of "Vampire Mine". There is a new thread that is left dangeling and we are sure to have more adventures to come. There are several complaints that this story wrapped up too easily and while I can see where these points are coming from, I was just really glad to see the story progress in this new way. It was time for something to happen or that particular plot line was going to sour.

Overall I am very pleased with the newest installment and look forward to everything the future brings to the "Love At Stake" series.

I just loved this book. If you havent read any of the others in the series no big deal you can easily follow up. There are many people from previous books in here like all the others, some neat follow ups on some of the couples from previous books.

The original couple is in here a bit, Shanna and Roman. Big things happen for me so its really a must read book if you are a fan of the series.

This book is about Connor. A almost 500 year old Scottish vampire. In the vamp world 500 is thought to be when a vampire has a mid-life crisis. But for Connor his whole life has been a long crisis. Lets put it plain and simple, Connor feels he damned.
If you remember him from previous books he has always been the first one to condemn a couple and be-rate it.
But what many dont know is that Connor has many secrets that are just tearing him apart.

Marielle is an Angel of Death. Or a deliverer as they preferred to be called. Her job has been for centuries to come and collect people souls. Marielle has a big heart and this job is very hard at times and she has often broken the rules. Well she broke the rules one to many times and has been banished from heaven and her wings were taken from her.

Luck have it Connor happen to be at the right place at the right time to come and help Marielle. Shortly after he vows to get her back into heaven.

But can he keep that promise? Marielle has been banished to earth or sent to save Connor?

This book is great, and very funny at times, I have found myself laughing. (I love the Ice cream parlor part!)
This couple has such a sweet innocence to it you cant help but fall in love with both Connor and Marielle.

I did only give this book 4 stars because I felt the author could of done a bit more with the war against the bad vampires. Their war has gone on for 10 books and very little was done with it, what was in the book was rather lacking and a bit disappointing. It would of been better to make the book a bit longer and make their war a bit more significant.

Again this book ends with many cliff hangers and room for more books. A great read very enjoyable!

My husband and I are addicted to this series. We could not wait for this character to be the focus of a book. We are eager to listen every day. This book killed our mojo for the series. Hope the next book is better. We kept listening and waiting for it to get better but it was awful. It felt as though there was a totally different and the voice for audible was very poor as well. Sorry to leave a bad review for what was an amazing series up until now.
