Busted Gina Ciocca Books
Gina Ciocca creates a captivating narrative that will entice readers and leave them desperate for more. She writes believable, realistic characters and I absolutely couldn’t put this book down.Marisa is an awesome lead character. She’s strong, resourceful, and realistic all at the same time. I love the lengths she goes to in order to protect her friends and those she cares about, and overall she has a great story arc; I loved reading the story through her point of view. Her conflicting emotions about whether to welcome her former friend Kendall back into her life with open arms is something that I could relate to, and I’m sure other readers will be able to as well. I liked the relationship she had with her younger brother, Nick, and how supportive they both were of each other. I also really liked her dynamic with her best friend Charlie; it was really cool to see how strong their friendship was even though they attended different schools. I appreciated the mention of college and the price of it in the book; I’m about to start my freshman year of college, and trust me, it’s not cheap!
I also felt that the pace at which her friendship with TJ progressed was nice. Once again, it was something that felt realistic. Of all the things they had in common, I loved the jewelry making the best! It is so unique. (And I might just desperately want one of those leather bracelets…..) Kendall, TJ’s girlfriend and Jordan, Marisa’s ex were both dynamic characters and had complicated relationships with Marisa due to their pasts, and I thought that the way all of those relationships play out was surprising, yet believable. There’s a few plot twists that I never saw coming that I absolutely loved!!
Overall, this book is a must read for teens who like the perfect mix of romance, mystery, and friendship.

Busted Gina Ciocca Books Reviews
Quite honestly I was expecting this book to be cute, fluffy, and predictable. But oh boy was I wrong. This book proved to be more than I could have hoped for... and much more complex than the description hints at.
What I liked
I thought the plot was really well done. There were so many intricacies, secrets, ulterior motives, and sub-plots that fit together so well. Although so much was going on, it was easy to keep track of, without me necessarily being able to put together the pieces before the plot was revealed.
I was surprised so many times by this book. And what I liked even more was how the motivations that each character had actually made sense. There was none of those silly, unbelievable motives that leave you thinking "are you serious? You caused all this trouble for THAT?" Instead, I was like "yeah, I could see how those circumstances/character traits would drive someone to do that." And honestly that made the story so much better and more satisfying.
For the most part, I really liked the characters too. Marisa (even though she could be a little annoying at times) had strong morals and stuck up for her friends. I liked TJ because instead of falling into the classic love interest role, he had a very dimensional personality. There was so much going on for him too, and he fit into the plot seamlessly.
Kendall, on the other hand, was an awful character... but the kind that makes the perfect antagonist. She's the type of character that you love to hate, and she was written perfectly.
What I didn't like
Honestly I don't understand why some of the characters were there. Marisa has a best friend, Charlie, and she is essential to the plot. But then they have this other friend whose name I don't even remember, because the story would have been exactly the same if she wasn't in it.
Also the parents were kind of one-dimensional and barely showed up at all. It didn't bother me that much (and it does tend to happen a lot in YA), but still it did bug me a little. Especially how un-invested they were in their kids lives.
Throughout the book, Marisa talks about this scholarship essay she wants to write, and the prompt is "How far would you go to get the story?" It fits in perfectly with the plot... only at the end of the book it never says if she writes the essay or not... or if she ever gets the money to go to her dream college (Lehigh University). So I wish that sub-arc was wrapped up.
Overall
Overall I really enjoyed this book. It was so much more than I was expecting, and I'm really glad that I decided to read it.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a YA romance that focuses less on the romance and more on some awesome detectiving and mystery solving.
I am giving Busted four out of five hearts.
Not what I expected at all. Don't really think this should have been listed under YA romance section, it was more like a Nancy drew/ Veronica Mars detective novel. Not much of a romance novel at all. I was very disappointed with this over charged book.
Loved Busted!! The story had me hooked immediately!! This book was very entertaining, funny and suspenseful from the beginning right through to the end! I highly recommend this book to everyone!
This book was hard to start but 2 chapters in and I was hooked. It seems pretty straight-forward like any other romance novel but takes a pretty exciting twist later in the book. Always keep reading!
I enjoyed this read! It had realistic portrayals of high school students and the tangled romances are really true to what high school can be like when you don’t know who you like. The “mystery” was well done and I just really liked the read overall.
Perfect for fans of Veronica Mars. This really takes you into the life of someone who just wants to be themselves but do good. The snark and the jokes really are just perfect.
The romance is believable and the goes beyond the normal tropes. Be prepared to hold your breath in anticipation of the characters relationships. There is betrayal and back stabbing. Ex friends becoming friends and normal teenage drama. The author really puts you into a high school situation and makes it feel realistic.
This was a fun YA contemporary romance filled with plenty of twists and turns. I loved Marisa's relationship with her family and friends. I liked that she called out Charlie for her mean girl behavior and that their friendship felt authentic. I thought each character was pretty fleshed out and they made mistakes, because they're teens and are allowed to mess up and learn from those things. The romance was sweet and I thought TJ and Marisa had great chemistry. It was also a quick read because I couldn't put it down!
