‘The strongest steel’ is the first book of the ‘Second Circle Tattoos’ series. This was the first book that I read from Scarlett Cole and I enjoyed it. When the writer is totally new to you, you don’t really know what to expect from the story. From the blurb I got the impression that the story wouldn’t be all sweet and flowery. And it wasn’t but it wasn’t as dark as I had thought too. Yes, the story had some sensitive themes in it but the writer wrote about it in a way that had the perfect balance between light and dark. I really liked that!

I liked the connection between Harper and Trent. How Trent convinced Harper to trust him after everything she had gone through. The gentle way he was with her but still he knew when to push her to do more. Although Harper was very afraid, I still found her a very strong character. Both characters were very likeable, The story is told in both POV’s. ‘The strongest steel’ is an easy read. The second characters, Trent’s colleagues/friends and Harper’s friends were great too. They were loyal and very interesting. I’m already looking forward to reading their story.

‘The strongest steel’ is a good story and the writer certainly convinced me to try more of her books.

Harper Connelly has left her past and changed her identity when she moved to Miami, Florida. Harper knows it is time to let go of her past and do something to push her into finding herself and who she wants to be. As fate would have it she ends up in front of Strongest Steel tattoo parlor and asking Trent Andrews if he will do her tattoo.

Trent is smitten with Harper right off the bat but he knows she scars she is trying to cover show that of a woman who needs patience. Trent takes his time getting to know Harper and ends up falling hard for her, she is all in as well and he sees her blossom into the woman she is meant to be. What will happen though when her past comes back to haunt her?

There is a lot more depth to this story then what I highlight but I don't want to give too much away. Loved every moment of this book and didn't want it to end. Trent is phenomenal, you have no doubt how he feels about Harper. I thought Harper was inspiring, she had so much she was dealing with and made hard choices on what path was right for her. Excellent.

The life Harper was living was not the one she should. She had been through so much and it was still living the hell every day. Harper couldn't get away from the nightmare she had been through. Until she decided to make a big change in her life she was fed up of living in fear of everything. She just didn't know that the biggest change in her life was goin to be Trent Andrews.

Trent's life was pretty good he had his own Tattoo shop Second Circle and it was doing brilliant. Trent was the best in Miami everyone wanted his work on the bodies. He had woman wanting him so ye life was good. Until he met Harper Connelly was where his life would change he could see pain and fear he wanted to take the away he didn't where these feelings were coming from were coming from but he wasn't prepared for what was coming.

I should of read this book sooner. I don't know why I didn't but I should of it was just brilliant luvd everything about it. The story was so good I couldn't get enough of it. Harper's character was brilliant my heart went out her she didn't deserve to go through the hell she had. She was a great woman no was strong she just needed help to find that again. Trent is smoking hot big tattooed sexy he was a great man and so caring just what Harper needed but would Trent be what Harper needed.

I would highly recommend this book is was brilliant from start to finish. I could see where stories were forming and it's just made me want to read more from this series. I can't wait to know more.
Every once in awhile...every now and again, you come across a story written so well and its words weave its perfect consuming spell over you and you're so perfectly connected to the intoxicating characters that it's close to impossible to stop reading for anything as mundane as "life". You begin feeling as if you're living the drama within the pages of the story itself. Sometimes......if you're lucky.....you find such a commanding but fun story. I found that connection with this story. I loved the dual POV. I loved how intrigued Trent Andrews was with Harper Connelly --- how he cannot help but be drawn to her even though he's adamant against relationships. Still, he begins to pursue her (and don't'cha just love stories where the macho guy does the chasing??)...Trent's never-ending patience with Harper and her many issues endeared him to me that much more.

Harper Connelly (28) is a survivor of domestic violence, abuse and torture. I'm grateful that the author doesn't dwell too long on the details of Harpers horrendous experience. Harpers past has made her nervous and easily agitated around people. She carries extreme emotional damage within her. She cannot be touched. She prefers to be alone. She doesn't talk much and seldom smiles. She doesn't trust anyone...much. She's extremely fragile and suspicious. But after four years of running and hiding from her emotions, she decides to take life by the horns and deal with her issues. First step being to cover the massive scar tissue on her back with a tattoo . This is where she meets Trent Andrews (32)...tattoo artist/designer and owner of "Second Circle Tattoo's".

Trent is one of the most talented tattoo artists in Miami...he's a 6'6" local celebrity with unruly dark hair and eyes so dark they appear to be black. His grinning dimpled smile is a panty melting show stopper. He's a fun loving gentle giant who never attempts relationships..he doesn't even hook up with the same gal twice. Ever. Not until he's mesmerized by the stunning beauty and sea green eyes of Harper Connelly.

I didn't expect to like this story as much as I did. I loved the premise of the plot. I loved Harper's many strengths and her intelligence. I loved how Trent becomes her relief...her remedy and rehabilitation. He becomes her absolute reason to live. I loved how Harper unintentionally makes Trent earn the prize of HER. Her damage makes her a worthy challenge and Trent never backs away. This fast paced story so adeptly snuck itself deep into the grey matter of my head and I simply couldn't put it down. I had to find out what happened next. Brilliant writing; strong characters...brilliantly told. If there was one downside, it would be the anti-climatic ending to the dramatically, suspenseful build-up of the release of the psycho butt who harmed Harper. That could've been told less rushed and in more detail.
